Formula One in Mexico

The Mexico City is all set with the upcoming Grand Prix. The auto race will be a feast to the Formula One lovers in Mexico as it is being held after twenty-three years. The last visit of the Formula One was in the year 1993 and since then the fans of Mexico have been waiting eagerly for the Championship. The Mexico City circuit is getting triggered to host the auto race in the best possible way. The live events company confirms about signing the five-year deal for conducting the race events in the Mexico City.

The Grand Prix Track of the Mexico City has its own significance. The Grands Prix that were held during 1963 to 1970 and 1986 to 1992 were held in the Track of the Mexico City. The last winner in the tracks of the Mexico City circuit was Nigel Mansell, who was the Champion of the year 1992. This time, Lewis Hamilton is expected to secure a good position in the race and hence retaining his Drivers’ Championship. He was able to manage seven pole positions in the last season, although German Nico Rosberg has managed up to eleven pole positions. Felipe Massa was the only pole position winner other than Rosberg or Hamilton.

The race was originally proposed to be held in 2014. The track needed some upgrades by the organizers and hence the event was delayed to 2015. The circuit is expected to undergo reconfigurations from the previous layout of 1992. The surface will be modified such that it is free from any bumps or ruggedness. The spectator stands are renovated to comply with the regulations of FIA. The pit garages are also subjected to renovations.

The Formula One will have up to twenty races though more than twenty is also possible based on the agreements of the teams. The race is also expected to run in the Grand Prix of Texas owing to the gap in the Formula One calendar. The debut of Sergio Perez in the year 2011 has kindled interest in the Formula One in Mexico. He is driving for Force India this time. The Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez is expected to be driving for the 2015 Formula One although there are not official confirmations on this.
